The social aspects of our Interest Groups are very important, but we also organize social activities that are not associated with any particular Interest Group and are open to all members. They are aimed at providing a bit of gentle physical and/or mental exercise, often with an element of friendly competition, but Lycra or Mensa membership are definitely not required!

Our gallant band of 15 hopefuls were treated to very professional instruction in the ancient skills by Alan Smith and his fellow instructors of the Meriden Archery Club.

We visited the restored 1885 water pumping station, with its four enormous coal-fired beam engines.

45 members recently attended First Aid Training sessions provided by paramedic volunteers from Central Fast Response and are now much more able and confident to deal with medical emergencies – until such time as the professionals arrive.

This was the second South Solihull u3a Crazy Golf Championship played at the world-renowned Four Ashes Adventure Golf Course. All players had a great time with plenty of laughs and frivolity. After the competition, many retired to the nearby watering hole - namely the Drum and Monkey - for some well earned lunch.

Under perfect weather, the last sixteen battled it out in pursuit of Championship glory. Would they tame some of the crazy holes? Would the fast flowing water course help them to a hole in one?…
