  • ‘Ella Minnow Pea’ by Mark Dunn

    Most liked the book and thought the lipogrammatic plot was a clever and unique idea.  It was felt that part of the plot could have been expanded upon to improve the storyline. Read more

    All of the group agreed that the book was a good read with interesting plots.  It was well written and we appreciated the groundwork the author must have put in to make the story realistic and realistic. Read more

  • ‘Revolutionary Road’ by Richard Yates

    Most people enjoyed the book, although some thought the latter half of the book was better.  It was well written, nostalgic of the Era with great insight into human weakness.  A stark representation of 50's America and very surprising that it was a first novel. Read more

  • ‘The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store' by James McBride

    Mixed reactions, a lot of characters to follow and perhaps would benefit from major editing.  The plot was slow to get going but gathered momentum in the latter half of the book. Read more

  • ‘Educated’ by Tara Westover - A Memoir

    The book highlighted the amazing level of endurance and resilience of human beings, but also the detrimental power individuals can exact over others. Read more

  • ‘The Nightingale’ by Kristen Hannah

    Feedback from the group was mixed. Mostly that it was an easy read, was enjoyable and would be a good plot for a film.  However, there was criticism regarding historical and geographical inaccuracies in the plot and that it was overly sentimental. Read more
