We had a full-house for the session on Word Processing. We explored several topics that are relevant not only to word processing, but can be applied throughout windows, such as the keyboard shortcuts for undo, cut, copy and paste, and selecting text using multiple mouse clicks.
We spent a little time learning how to apply basic formatting to text, such as bold and italics. Then we experimented with techniques for typing special characters, like the non-breaking-space, and non-keyboard characters, such as symbols and foreign alphabets.
Finally we explored Styles - the best way to achieve consistent formatting, and allowing formatting changes to the whole document to be applied easily and instantly.
We didn't have time to look at numbered headings or inserting objects, but these topics are covered in the notes which are available here
