South Solihull

International Dining

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: We meet approximately every 6 weeks

We seek restaurants who cook with the recipes and ingredients of the classic cuisines from around the world  We have about 40 registered members, most of whom have been on at least one of the visits we have made to restaurants recently.

Organisers

We ask members to recommend restaurants that they have visited and for them to arrange for visits to their favourites.  They agree a good deal with the restaurant, usually for a set menu or a good selection from their a-la-carte menu.  If organisers haven't done this before, they can get help from other members or the coordinator.

The coordinator will provide the contact with members for each event.  Please make email contact with them, to join the group and be included on the list of invitees.

Past Meals

  • We had lunch at Porto Douro; a Portuguese restaurant in Solihull.  As an unexpected treat, we were given traditional pastéis de nata (custard tarts) and a shot of Port afterwards.

  • 14 of us attended a lunch in The Snug at the Bulls Head in Barston.  Our meals, pre-chosen from a limited menu, were delayed but tasty and well-prepared.

  • Eleven of us had an interesting Thai meal at Sabai Sabai in Solihull.  It was a short yet varied menu and the food was very tasty, well cooked and delivered promptly.  It was a good opportunity to catch up with one another for a chat whilst eating excellent food.

  • Twenty-eight members enjoyed a convivial evening at Ortada restaurant in Dorridge.  A little patience was required between courses as that night's special offer had attracted a full house of diners.  However, we all agreed that the food was excellent, and the generous portions defeated some of us, who took away 'doggy bags' (breakfast?).

  • 23 members made a return visit to Daarwat and enjoyed another pleasant evening eating some very tasty Indian dishes.

  • Members enjoyed a lunch from the varied and extensive buffet of international dishes.
