Armchair Theatre Play Reading

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: Monthly on Thursdays
1st Thursday of the month
Venue: (contact coordinator)

We are a friendly group of play readers who have been reading play scripts together since 2018.  We have read an eclectic mix of plays in that time which can be serious, thought-provoking, funny or a murder mystery.  They have all entertained us and we find that our play reading skills are improved.

Members take turns to choose a play from our chosen library’s drama department and once one is selected they take over the casting of that play.  We take turns to host in our own homes if that is practicable.  We have been to see a few productions, both at the Alexander Theatre (Abigail’s Party) and the Bear Pit Theatre in Stratford upon Avon (The Cherry Orchard).

When we take a short break our host provides us with tea, coffee and biscuits and we use this time to talk about the play.  At the end of the session we always leave feeling that we have had an afternoon well spent.

If you are interested please come and read a part in one of our plays.  We are a very welcoming group.

The idea is that we enjoy being thespians without having to act on stage!!
