Belbroughton is a pretty village southwest of the Clent Hills and a 30 minute drive from Knowle/Dorridge. Our walk today started and ended at the 14th-century ‘Holy Trinity Church’ in Belbroughton

The weather was dry, with intermittent sunshine, and the paths were firm underfoot, making for excellent walking conditions.  We passed the well-maintained cemetery, and continued out into open fields of ripening corn, with fine views in all directions.  Turning East, we encountered some of the best blackberry bushes most of us had ever seen, laden with fruit within easy reach, and very sweet.  We crossed over a stream into woodland and then back into open fields, following paths westwards for two miles, and all the way enjoying the wonderful countryside.  On our way back we passed the beautiful ‘Drayton Pool’ and watched the herons, swans, geese and ducks that make it their home.  Then a short walk back up to the Church where we had a chance to explore inside this ancient and magnificent building.  We ended the walk with a very relaxing lunch in the garden of the ‘Talbot’ pub in Belbroughton.  All-in-all, a very good walk.
