The author started his career as a radio journalist and it was generally felt this showed in his grasp of current affairs and political issues covered in the subject matter.  The group enjoyed the book and felt that the writing style was pacey and gritty. The plot involved three stories which didn't converge until later in the book. Feedback unanimously stated that the book had a good plot which needed full concentration as it dealt with complex issues of political protest, persecution, asylum seeking, arms dealing and political intrigue.
