A Better Buggy

The main topic of this session was consideration of ways in which the line-following buggy built in the previous session could be improved.  We considered two enhancements:

1) To have the option for it follow either a black or white line. This could be done with a simple change-over switch in the motor circuits.

2) To overcome the problem with the existing design, that only one of the wheels was ever driven at any one time. The enhancement would allow both wheels to be driven if the line-following was 'near enough'.  To achieve this aim we opted to replace the dual voltage comparator chip with a PICAXE microprocessor, so that the buggy's behaviour could be controlled by software, opening up the possibility of much more sophisticated behaviour.

We also gave the Repair Shed a helping hand with replacement of a failed electrolytic in the PSU of a DAB radio.
