Our walk was along a route produced by Kenilworth Town Council and titled 'Visit Kenilworth Nature Trail'.  Under a cloudless blue sky, we started at the War Memorial, crossed Abbey Fields and circled the lake to the remains of Kenilworth Abbey and St Nicholas Church, which dates from 1291 and was visited by Elizabeth 1 in 1575.  Then on up to Parliament Piece - a delightful hay meadow but erroneously named, since it is very unlikely that a parliament was ever held there.  From there we walked through Crackley Wood, a remnant of the ancient Forest of Arden, resplendent with bluebells at this time of year.  Then we joined the Kenilworth Greenway, a leafy path along the route of a dismantled railway, back to Kenilworth.  We stopped for a delicious lunch at the Abbey Field pub, where we sat outside in the sunshine chatting and relaxing in one of Kenilworth's most charming streets.  A new member, Steve, joined us today; we hope to see him on future walks.  All-in-all, a lovely walk, in perfect weather.  Click the link below to download details of the Nature Trail and other Kenilworth walks.
