This book proved an eye opener for many of us; the Vietnam war was a period we had all lived through but perhaps not appreciated the far-reaching impact on people in these countries.

This is a fictional, yet well-researched, powerful and often unnervingly brutal account of the Vietnam war.

A good proportion of the book is about a female nurse's time in Vietnam, the latter part felt to be a somewhat condensed account of her return and the aftermath she and other veterans faced as they rejoined their families in civilian life.

There are a lot of American forces acronyms, and a glossary for UK citizens would have been appreciated. 4/5
